The Curious Case of Big Wes

Cases of mistaken identity can be irritating, annoying, amusing or dangerous, but for American senior web business analyst Wesley Hall, however, it has been overwhelmingly uplifting and heartwarming.

Known to his friends as Big Wes, the Pittsburgh Steelers fan was mistaken on Twitter for Nottingham Forest's hulking defender Wes Morgan. For most people this would be the start and end of the matter, but not Wes. Curious as to exactly who his British nick-namesake was, he began messaging Forest fans back and soon found himself intrigued with the Garibaldi Reds.

The situation escalates by the day. His initially modest number of Twitter followers has rocketed to 1,400 at the time of writing. Forest has bought a shirt for Wes and the American has pledged to one day visit the City Ground. There has even been an interview on Radio Nottingham and announcements over the PA at the City Ground. He signs-off most tweets with the words 'You Reds!'

Online you can read Big Wes' blog - outlining the extraordinary, trans-Atlantic saga - and hear his interview on Radio Nottingham. Follow him (along with hundreds of others!) on Twitter: @bigwes One day we could be seeing him Trentside!
